Frequently asked questions
How does the pre-operative process work?
Once you feel fully informed about the procedure and have signed the consent form, you and Dr. Galli will agree on a date for your surgery.
The pre-operative process usually includes:
Pre-operative tests
Depending on your health and risk profile, you may need blood tests (including coagulation), an ECG, and a chest X-ray.Pre-operative assessment clinic
Once you have the results, you will attend a pre-operative clinic where a specialist doctor will review your file. They will either confirm that you are fit for surgery or request additional tests if needed.Preparation before surgery
You may receive specific instructions, such as dietary guidelines or other preparation steps, to follow in the days before your operation.
This process ensures that surgery is as safe and smooth as possible.
Should I bring reports and test results to the clinic for a new consultation?
Yes. If you have medical reports or test results that may be relevant, it is very important to bring them to your consultation. Having this information allows your doctor to assess your situation accurately without the need for repeat tests, and it helps avoid additional appointments to review results.
If you have had a CT scan or MRI at another centre, please make sure you bring the images themselves (on a CD, USB stick, or digital access link). The written report alone is often not enough for a complete evaluation.
If your tests were performed within the IMED hospitals, you do not need to bring anything—your results and imaging are already available in our system.
Do you treat international patients?
Dr Raffaele Galli warmly welcomes international patients seeking expert surgical care in Valencia. Fluent in English, German, French, Italian and Spanish, Dr Galli ensures clear communication throughout your treatment.
Can I get a second opinion?
Yes. If you have already received a diagnosis or treatment proposal and would like another expert assessment, Dr Galli offers a specialised second opinion service.
Please send all relevant medical reports, imaging and test results by email before your appointment. This allows Dr Galli to review your case thoroughly and ensure a productive consultation.
This service provides reassurance and clarity for patients facing complex surgical decisions, ensuring every choice is based on up-to-date evidence and international best practice.
